As the mental health needs of college students evolve, so must the ways in which we offer support. This means thinking outside of the traditional one-on-one clinical setting. What was once considered strictly the purview of counseling center staff is now recognized as a responsibility for the whole campus community. Both clinical and non-clinical staff and faculty can play a role in creating a healthier environment for students who may struggle with mental health challenges. This workshop offers innovative ideas for creating a network of mental health support systems for students by leveraging technology, peer support, and community collaborations. These systems provide comprehensive and accessible mental health support for students, helping them thrive throughout their academic journey.
After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify multiple areas of mental health support beyond the clinical setting.
- Create innovative programs to support student well-being.
- Explain holistic wellness and how students can benefit from both clinical and non-clinical mental health support.
- Use a multi-pronged approach to mental health and increase opportunities for students to improve their well-being.
