When a member of your school’s community (faculty, staff, student) is concerned about a student’s behavior, they need to reach out to the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) as soon as possible. To function at their best, the BIT needs to receive timely and appropriate referrals, but it is often a challenge to teach students, faculty, and staff to recognize concerns and submit referrals. This session is designed to teach your school’s community about the work of the BIT, how to identify concerns, and how to write and submit referrals that allow the BIT to initiate its processes and provide support. The presentation is designed for a broad audience and offers ample opportunity for discussion and questions. Private sessions can be geared specifically to the needs or challenges of a specific institution.
Learning outcomes:
- By the end of the session, participants will be able to identify behaviors that should be referred to the BIT
- By the end of the session, participants will be able to write and submit accurate and actionable referrals
