Brian Heider is the Vice President – Investigations for TNG Consulting. Heider is a senior professional with more than 20 years of experience in workplace, personnel and pre-employment investigations involving municipal, city, police and fire agencies as well as public, private and charter school educational institutions. His background combines a unique set of professional experiences that include careers as a high school teacher, high school and collegiate coach, police detective, school safety expert and business owner. As a result, Heider has a multidimensional view of risk management, investigation protocol, and the associated implementation of policies and procedures.
Prior to joining TNG Consulting in 2020, Heider was the Founder and President of Oracle Investigations Group, Inc. (“OIG”), a professional investigation agency he established in 2010, with significant experience in the following areas of investigation:

These investigations have resulted in administrative, civil and criminal outcomes and media attention. Select criminal investigations have resulted in grand jury indictments, arrests and convictions.
Heider founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of School Shield, Inc., a professional corporation charged with delivering safe school solutions to California’s public schools. Services provided include school site risk and vulnerability assessments, student and staff threat and behavior assessments, comprehensive safe school plan creation and implementation, crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) assessments and active shooter behavior and response training. His experience includes training school site staff in the aforementioned topics, having been retained to train several thousand public school students and staff members at both statewide conferences and individual school sites. Heider has also worked with state and federal elected officials in efforts to pass safe school legislation.
For nearly a decade, Heider was a detective and police officer for the Orange Police Department in Orange County, CA. During his law enforcement tenure, Heider was an experienced investigator who spent time as a patrol officer, crime scene investigator, school resource officer and detective. His assignments included investigating sexual assault and child abuse allegations, homicides, gang and drug related crimes, fraud and embezzlement matters and conducting mobile and stationary surveillance. As a detective, Heider was considered the go-to author of high-profile search warrants, possessing a strong knowledge of criminal and civil laws as well as evidentiary procedures. Heider is a court certified expert in multiple disciplines, highly skilled in crime scene investigation, and was a recipient of the prestigious California Narcotics Officers’ Association Officer of the Year award based on peer nominations.
The foundation of Heider’s experience with and interest in safe educational environments was established during his tenure as teacher and head coach at Chino High School in Chino, California, where he taught world and United States history to high school freshman and juniors, respectively. He also served as the head water polo and swim coach for all aquatic sports at both Chino High School and Santiago High School and was an Assistant Water Polo Coach at Chapman University. Heider’s coaching highlights include consistent top three California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) team rankings and recognition as the Los Angeles Times’ “Coach of the Year” as voted by his peers and the media.
