Dan Fotoples, J.D., M.A.

Dan Fotoples is a Consultant and Director of Content Development at TNG, where his focus areas include training, case law analysis, regulatory analysis, and thought leadership. He serves as a decision-maker for K-12 cases, advises parties involved in higher education disciplinary processes, investigates, and supports TNG partners serving as expert witnesses. 

Fotoples specializes in the intersection of law and education, leveraging his multidisciplinary expertise to create impactful training, certification courses, workshops, and seminars for K-12 districts and post-secondary institutions. He simplifies complex legal and compliance topics for industry professionals, offering practical insights to help them overcome compliance and equity challenges. He also publishes legal analyses on federal and state court opinions related to Title IX, ADA, Section 504, Title VI, Title VII, and other education laws. As lead author of ATIXA’s comments on proposed Title IX regulations and athletic eligibility rules, he contributes to national policy discussions.  

Before joining TNG, Fotoples worked in higher education, focusing on Title IX, CARE Team coordination, case management, and residence life. His roles have included Title IX Coordinator and Residence Life Area Coordinator at John Carroll University, and Senior CARE Manager in the Dean of Students Office at Cleveland State University. 

Education is a constant thread throughout his life and career, as he comes from a family of teachers and earned his master’s degree in education. He holds a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University, and a B.A. in History and Philosophy from John Carroll University. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio. 

Fotoples lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with his wife and dog.
