Leah Gutknecht, M.B.A.

Senior Director of Investigations

Before joining TNG, Gutknecht served as a Title IX Coordinator for well over two decades, including conducting and supervising intakes and investigations, decision making, and prevention work. Her experience at a comprehensive regional public institution included serving as the Title VI, Title VII, and ADA Coordinator. Gutknecht led her institution’s participation as a member of the first cohort of NASPA’s Culture of Respect gender violence prevention program. She led NCAA gender equity reviews for her Division I institution and brought together campus partners to create and implement a single policy for all civil rights cases. Gutknecht has serves as a mentor to numerous Title IX professionals across the country.

Prior to her work in civil rights compliance, Gutknecht worked in human resources and conducted numerous employment investigations for corporations and organizations of all sizes. She also served as an adjunct instructor, teaching business courses at the University of Northern Iowa and Upper Iowa University.

Gutknecht attended the first ATIXA-sponsored Title IX Coordinator training and immediately understood the need for Title IX professionals to join forces. She has been an invited speaker and consultant for numerous organizations, served on the editorial board for the Title IX Journal, and has extensive experience writing policy and procedure, designing operational systems, and collaborating across functional lines to build and deliver equitable, consistent, and effective resolution processes. She values transparency and user-friendly processes that serve to provide clear communication to the parties while creating clean and thorough documentation for the institution.
