“Only when diverse perspectives are included, respected, and valued can we start to get a full picture of the world.” Brené Brown
Linda Abbott is a Consultant at TNG with more than 20 years of experience in mental health, behavioral intervention, victim advocacy, and prevention programming. She supports institutions in designing and improving Behavioral Intervention Teams (BITs) and crisis response strategies.
Abbott specializes in case management, program development, and cross-functional teamwork, with expertise in supporting students after psychiatric hospitalization and navigating confidentiality in clinical settings. A national leader in behavioral intervention, she has co-authored key NABITA whitepapers and contributed to the updating and refinement of NABITA’s standards and risk assessment tools. Abbott also oversees program and procedure reviews for BIT and CARE Teams and conducts threat assessments for at-risk individuals in educational settings. She also serves as a Title IX Process and Hearing Advisor for multiple higher education institutions. She is frequently invited to speak at conferences nationwide, including as a keynote speaker at the Oregon Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD).
Before joining TNG, Abbott served as Assistant Dean for Health and Wellness Services at Eckerd College, where she oversaw counseling, health services, advocacy, and case management, and chaired the intervention team. She was the inaugural Violence Prevention Coordinator at the University of Mississippi, where she developed and implemented the university’s first violence prevention program. At the University of Arkansas, Abbott held a hybrid role as a Counselor-in-Residence, combining counseling and residence life responsibilities.
Abbott brings both clinical and non-clinical perspectives to her work, emphasizing the importance of collaborative, trauma-informed, and student-centered support systems grounded in ethical practice. She helps institutions develop compassionate case management frameworks that prioritize well-being and community safety.
She holds an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Mississippi. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida and a State of Florida Qualified Supervisor for Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) and Mental Health Counseling (MHC).
