Know what you don’t know.

Marti Kopacz is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of experience leading companies, teams, process improvement projects, and financial and operational reorganizations. Her expertise includes leadership roles in advisory and professional services firms where Ms. Kopacz built best in class consulting practices, led engagements across diverse industry sectors, and completed numerous accelerated merger and acquisition transactions domestically and internationally. 

In her role as TNG Chief Executive Officer, she leads the national multidisciplinary risk management consulting firm, serving more than 5,000 college, university, and school organizations.  TNG is one of the largest education-specific consulting practices in the country, focusing on risk management solutions, behavioral intervention, Title IX compliance, safety and threat assessment, investigations, neutral services – including expert witness testimony – and the development of comprehensive solutions.  The TNG group of entities includes two industry-leading professional associations that are managed by TNG: The Association of Title IX Administrators (“ATIXA”) and The National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (“NABITA”).

Ms. Kopacz is an influential communicator who collaborates with and gains consensus among stakeholders. She has a deep capacity for managing complex transactions as well as dynamic and challenging situations.  Ms. Kopacz was one of the first professionals to apply corporate turnaround and restructuring principles to mission-based enterprises, including not-for-profit, educational, and governmental organizations. 

She has a passion for innovation within professional services and a long history of strategic practice leadership within the largest professional services firms.  She founded and served as National Managing Principal for Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Services at Grant Thornton LLP. She built a world-class practice, attracting “A” talent and generating over $125 million in revenues and $30 million in profits in less than four years. Ms. Kopacz had full profit and loss and operational accountability for personnel matters, marketing and branding, and policies and procedures including client service standards, quality assurance and regulatory requirements. She was responsible for integrating the United Stated-based practice into the pre-existing global footprint. She sourced, negotiated and integrated the firm’s successful acquisition of an industry vertical consulting practice, enhancing Grant Thornton’s domestic and international capabilities across three continents.

Previously, Ms. Kopacz was one of three Managing Directors to launch the public sector consulting practice at Alvarez & Marsal.  She played a key role in FTI Consulting’s acquisition of the PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) restructuring business as a member of the negotiating team.  At the time, she was a Principal and member of the Management Committee for the Business Recovery Services at PwC, where she also served on the firm’s Global Retail Leadership team, helping to build capabilities and serve clients in Asia and Europe.  

Ms. Kopacz received her M.B.A., Finance and Investments and a B.S., Marketing from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN where she serves on the Kelley School Dean’s Advisory Council.  She is a Certified Management Accountant, Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor, holds a Certificate of Completion – American Bankruptcy Institute/St. John’s University Bankruptcy Mediation Training, and currently serves as the Treasurer of the American College of Bankruptcy.
